Pottery Wheel

Offered All Weeks, 2 - 11

Ages 8+:  10:00am - 12:30pm

Ages 6+:  1:30pm - 4:00pm

Learn to make on the pottery wheel! This camp will cover wedging, pulling, trimming, use of tools, surface techniques, attachments and more. Basic small to medium vessels will be taught (ex. cylinders and bowls) with attachments (ex. handles, knobs, faces).  Students will also learn basic decoration and glazing techniques. Each student will work on their own wheel. Returning students will be given new challenges as well as have a chance to practice their technique and improve their skills. * Students should wear old clothes and tie back hair - the pottery wheel can be messy! Tools, materials and firing included. $190 

*Students who wish improve their skill level may take this camp multiple times and then enroll in Pottery Wheel All Day. The pre-requisite for Pottery Wheel All Day Camp is 8+ with previous wheel experience through our classes or camp.

Beginning Drawing

Week 1, May 30th - June 2nd (4 days)

Ages 6+:  10:00am - 12:30pm

Love to draw and want to improve your skills? In Beginning Drawing, students will learn how to draw and color proportional people, show depth and experiment with different drawing materials*. We will also explore observation and imaginative drawing styles. This camp will include practice exercises, experiments with different drawing mediums, and a daily drawing prompt. At the end of the class session, students will have a personalized sketchbook, portfolio of artwork and a set of drawing pencils to take home!  $155

Advanced Drawing

Week 1, May 30th - June 2nd (4 days)

Ages 9+:  1:30pm - 4:00pm

Want to sharpen your drawing skills? In Advanced Drawing, students will learn how to draw 3-D objects, faces, people and landscapes in perspective.

We will also experiment with different drawing mediums, shading techniques, and drawing styles – observation and imagination. This camp will include practice exercises, experiments, and a daily drawing prompt. At the end of the camp session, students will have the tools and practice to achieve a new level of drawing for themselves* - plus a personalized sketchbook, portfolio of artwork and a set of drawing pencils to take home!  $155

*Techniques may be difficult for students under 9 yrs.

Garden Sprites & Sprouts

Week 2, June 5th - June 9th

Ages 8+: 10:00am - 12:30pm

Ages 6+:  1:30pm - 4:00pm

Love to play in the garden? Campers can create their own garden world for dinosaurs, fairies, bugs and birds. Clay projects may include creating wind chimes, bird or fairy houses, wood block gardens, their own hand-built planters, leaf print artworks, and more. Campers will get to glaze and plant their pieces to bring home at the end of the week. We suggest students wear old clothes and tie back hair – gardening & clay can be messy! Tools, materials and firing included. $190

Wizards & Witches Unite!

Week 3, June 12th - June 16th

Are you a fan of all things Harry Potter?  Do you wish that you had your own owl, a book of potions and spells, a magic wand or a sorting hat?  In this weeklong camp students will explore the magical world of Harry Potter and create their own adventure!  Here at “Hogwarts” campers will identify their house, create their house symbol and learn to be a wizard or witch!  Our projects will be made from clay, papier mâché, paint, wood and other secret materials.

Dragons & Beasties Beware!

Week 3, June 12th - June 16th

What’s life without a few dragons? - Ronald Weasley

Come discover dragons, unicorns, gnomes, fairies, and other magical creatures and their realms. In this camp, students will listen to stories about a variety of creatures and get creative with clay, wire, wood, papier-mâché to make their favorite creatures and habitats come to life! Projects include creature pinch pots, mask making, printing, watercolor, and wood blocks.

Poké Camp

Week 4, June 19th - June 23rd

Ages 8+: 10:00am - 12:30pm

Ages 6+:  1:30pm - 4:00pm

Calling all Pokémon Trainers! Come join a team, hatch your own Pokémon, participate in practice battles and evolve at QCCs Poké Camp! Campers projects may include making their own Pokémon out of clay, creating a habitat home, training in painted battles, orienteering for powers, designing their own cards and evolving their Pokémon in collage.

Fairytale & Fantasy Fun!

Week 5, June 26th - June 30th

Ages 7+: 10:00am - 12:30pm

Calling all powerful princesses, dino wranglers, superheroes and vicious villains – be your own fairytale or fantasy hero (or villain) and make a side kick! Come to our lair to make the perfect outfit, super suit, wings, cloak or crown. This camp will include a clay project, drawing, and painting, making accessories and a creating a sidekick out of papier mâché!

We will celebrate the end of our week with a party and invite our parents to experience our magical realm! $190

Lego Stop-Action

Week 7, July 10th - July 14th

Ages 8+: 10:00am - 12:30pm

Ages 8+:  1:30pm - 4:00pm

Got tons of LEGOs and a cell phone, tablet or iPad?*  Come be a master builder in the movie world and you create your own video! Campers may participate in several LEGO inspired projects including drawing in perspective, printing and sculpture.  Our main focus will be creating a video using our LEGOs as characters, background and props.  This process includes: learning how to draw and create a story using a storyboard, creating all the props, filming and finally editing it your movie. Friends and Family are invited to a screening the last day of camp!

*Campers will need to bring their own device, but do not need to bring LEGOs. Information about downloading the Stop Motion Studio app will be sent out ahead of camp.

Sharks, Squid & Axolotls

Week 8, July 17th - July 21st

Ages 8+: 10:00am - 12:30pm

Ages 6+:  1:30pm - 4:00pm

Aye me hearties, we dive to Davy Jones’ locker to explore the strange creatures of the briny deep. Campers will get their sea legs and visit coral reefs, shipwrecks, kelp forests and swampy lakes to create all sorts of underwater creatures, both real and imaginary. Projects may include pinch pot creatures, coil wall art, kelp forest watercolor, coral collage prints, a treasure chest and more!

Shiver me timbers, mermaids and the Kraken lay ahead! $190

Manga Transformations Studio

Week 9, July 24th - July 28th

Ages 10+: 10:00am - 12:30pm

Do you have a favorite Manga series? Do you like working in the Manga style?
If your answer is yes, then this is the camp for you. Join us as we take a story theme and develop characters and creatures in your favorite dynamic style. This traditional Japanese style is more than just big eyes and we’ll cover some history of the art form through illustration and story development.
This is a class for those with some experience in basic drawing and a love for the themes that are prevalent in this expressive art.

Skill Level: Intermediate Drawing Skills, previous class prefered  $185

Comic Adventures Workshop

Week 9, July 24th - July 28th

Ages 8+: 1:30pm - 4:00pm

Do you like comics? Would you like to create your own comic?
Then welcome to our Comic Adventures Workshop! Come with your imaginations ready for action. In this class we will be putting pencil to paper as we create unique heroes, villains and discuss tales of revenge. Students will work from a story prompt from history. They’ll develop their own characters and create a comic by the end of the week.

All skill levels are welcome!  $175

Painting, Printing, and Batik

Week 10, July 31st - August 4th

Ages 8+:  10:00am - 12:30pm

Ages 6+:  1:30pm - 4:00pm

Painting is dancing with chaos and swimming in a rainbow! Campers will enjoy a week of color, learning both foundational and experimental painting techniques and the power or resist. Camp projects, inspired by contemporary and art history masters, could include mini watercolor masterpieces, printed collages, a dyed batik-style fabric pennant, glazed pottery pieces and more!

Clay Extraordinaires

Week 11, August 7th - 11th

Ages 8+:  10:00am - 12:30pm

Ages 6+:  1:30pm - 4:00pm

Llama vases, dragon bowls, superhero cat plates or a cursed castle, let’s make something extraordinary! Using clay, students will learn techniques such as pinch pots, slabs and coils and may create sculptures, plates, bowls, and more.  Students will also learn basic glazing techniques and bring home their creations at the end of the week! Returning students will be given new challenges and projects ideas. We suggest students wear old clothes and tie back hair – clay can be messy! Tools, materials and firing included.  $190

Superhero Development Studio: Capes and the Heros Who Love Them

Have you ever wondered why some superheros wear capes? What does a cape stand for, why even draw characters with them? In this Summer Saturday series, join Ron LaCour and discuss the many uses of a cape and develop some very interesting ideas to create your own customized cape crusader.  $130

Manga Madness Workshop: Mega Manga Mechs!

Have you ever wondered how to design mechanized cyber suits from your favorite Manga series? Come down to Summer Saturdays with Ron LaCour. We will tackle creating mechanical men, animals and giant mega monstrosities that can only be limited by your imaginations…and the picture plane. $140

Teen Wheel

Class Session 1:  June 1st - June 29th

5 weeks, Ages 13+

Thursday class  4:30pm-6pm

Open Studio Time:  Wednesdays 4:00 - 6:00pm

 

All levels welcome, whether you’ve taken a wheel class in the past or have never touched clay before.  Our instructors will work with you at your level to help you create pottery on the wheel.  You’ll also learn how to use the studio’s bucket glazes in this 6-week class.  Students will get Open Studio Time on Wednesdays from 4-6pm if they want to come in and practice outside of class. Returning students will be challenged with new techniques.  $175
