QCC IN-HOUSE WORKSHOP
Sculpture on the Wheel
March 2nd, 10am-2pm
Join Ben as he shows you how to use the wheel as a tool to create sculptural forms and elements. We are so used to making symmetrical forms on the wheel that it’s sometimes difficult to see that the wheel is just a tool that can be used in LOTS of different ways. Ben will work with people on untraditional methods for creating wall and stand alone sculptures. This workshop will be hands on for those who want to work through the process. We will try off-center throwing, change the orientation of common shapes on the wheel, and work with pots while they are upside down. Stretching leather hard work and stacking forms will be covered as well. Come with an open mind! Even if you don’t have the skill to use some of the techniques, you will get a lot from watching what’s possible and incorporating skills into your work when the time is right.
