Summer Intensive Workshops- 2026-

Registration and details below!

Notice our Intensive Workshops are only 3 days this year? Don’t worry, you can still get your grad credit! We’re so excited to offer an opportunity beyond what we can usually do by pairing the intensive workshops with our Reign of Fire workshop. Spend Mon-Wed learning clay techniques and making with the QCC staff. If you choose to also register for Reign of Fire, it will kick off Thursday with Mayco sharing glazing products and techniques you can use in the classroom. You’ll then get to fire in EVERY KILN we have, AND you’ll be able to sit in on 2 days of demos by nationally recognized ceramic artists Heidi McKay Casto, Fong Choo, and Naomi Peterson!!!

Pairing the workshops is optional if you don’t need the grad credit. Longer format means less intense days for those applying for credit.

Continuing Education Units

Need some C.E.U.’s?  For every hour you’re in a QCC program you receive 1 C.E.U.  That’s like getting paid to party.  Let us know if you need C.E.U.’s for a workshop or class you’ll be attending.  We can give you a certificate the same day.

Accreditation through Ashland University

Queen City Clay has an ongoing partnership with Ashland University that allows art educators to earn graduate credits through our eight-week classes or summer intensive workshops.  Here’s how it works:

Decide which class you’d like to take and register for it.  Descriptions and registration will be available on the Classes page of our webstore.  You need 12.5 contact hours to earn one credit hour.  Our eight-week classes will get you one credit hour.  In the summer we offer week-long intensive workshops where you can earn up to 3 credit hours.

Email Chrissy with your contact information, the school you teach for, and the class you are taking.  We will submit the class to Ashland and you will be sent a link where you can register for the class with them.  $185 per credit hour will be owed to Ashland and a class fee will be owed to Queen City Clay for eight-week classes.  QCC’s price for intensive summer workshops will vary.

You will work closely with your instructor on what your project goals are, have regular critiques throughout the class session, write a paper on what you’ve learned, and give a presentation to your classmates at the end of the eight weeks or workshop.  Three hours of homework per credit hour outside of class time is also required, so use that free studio time during your session!
