Over 50 staff, students, and full-time artists showcase and sell their work throughout our 24,000 sq. ft. studio. The Great BIG Holiday Bazaar Treasure Hunt – Media Release

Queen City Clay will host its 6th annual Holiday Bazaar on November 17th & 18th from 10 am to 5 pm each day. The Holiday Bazaar Holiday is a chance for members of the Cincinnati community to come see the incredible artwork created at Queen City Clay. Over 60 staff, students, and full-time artists showcase and sell their work throughout our 24,000 sq. ft. studio.There will be functional pottery, ceramic jewelry, ornaments, decorative sculpture, and gift items for sale. In addition there will be coffee, cupcakes, a chocolatier and a food truck! To celebrate this event a city wide treasure hunt will take place beginning October 17th and commencing at the Holiday Bazaar. Earlier this year Queen City Clay unveiled a line of Cone 6 commercial glazes.These unique and versatile glazes are named for beloved Cincinnati Neighborhoods. Potter Moriah Oberlin used these glazes to make more than 30 tiny treasure pots for the Great BIG Holiday BazaarTreasure Hunt. Ceramic enthusiasts can learn more about the glazes by following the hunt or at www.queencityclay.com. The treasure pots are numbered and will be hidden throughout Cincinnati. Queen City Clay will post photos and clues on their Facebook page for the community to follow. When a pot is found the finder will post a photo to the Facebook page to alert fellow treasure hunters that it has been found. New pots will be hidden each week. Finders will bring their pot to the Holiday Bazaar where they will be able to search though a treasure trove of prizes to find the one that corresponds with their pot. Queen City Clay Seeking Special Event Instructors

Queen City Clay is the region’s largest & oldest existing clay studio, gallery, and supply center focusing on education and promotion of the ceramic arts. Our 24,000 sq.ft. studio is home to hundreds of artists. From long-time professionals, to amateur artists, to new students just learning the art of ceramics, Queen City Clay is their home away from home. We strive to be a resource for ceramics artists and teachers across the tri- state. Through Classes, Workshops, Special Events and School Field Trips we are able to get clay in to the hands of nearly 2,500 people each year! Queen City Clay is seeking on-call instructors for Special Events, Field Trips and Open Wheel Classes. Both Leads and Assistants needed. Instructors will be responsible for leading or assisting with short term programs ranging from 1 to 4 hours at a time. Programs include beginning instruction in wheel throwing or hand building with clay. Responsibilities Include: Setting up studio for instruction, gathering necessary tools Taking attendance during events Lead or assist with instruction on basic wheel throwing or hand building techniques Ensure students properly clean stations and studio Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with clay in a studio or educational environment Experience teaching or assisting with instruction in ceramic arts Desire to introduce beginners to the clay experience and promote involvement in our community Hours and Benefits: Events are scheduled 7 days a week within the hours of 9 am and 9 pm.
