(R) Raku
These glazes will produce very dramatic effects when reduced after a Raku firing. Once your kiln reaches temperature (1911 F), turn it off and allow to cool until 1700 degrees (F) before you pull the pieces out with tongs. Protect yourself from the heat when you open the kiln: wear heat and fireproof protective clothing, high temperature gloves, and an appropriate respirator to protect you from the smoke. if you are using an electric kiln, never pull material out unless the kiln is turned off.
